Buy Handmade Video from Etsy. “I buy handmade to fill the emptiness.”
Who’s on board?
Ryan & I have been gearing up for a handmade holiday season this year. If you’re not familiar with the handmade movement, it’s a reaction to a whole bunch of things. The superficiality in our society (expecting lots of purchased gifts), the economic state (it’s hard to spend money when you don’t have money), the environmental state (remember reduce, reuse, recycle?), these are all great reasons to pledge a handmade holiday season, but if not these, then how about just spending time & thought on the perfect gifts for your loved ones. Better than buying them something, tailor every gift specifically to each person. While you’re making the gift, you’ll find that you can’t keep them off of your mind! It’s the perfect way to dedicate yourself to making sure those who are important to you have a fantastically heart-felt holiday. Repurposed gifts have so much personality & individual history, so take unused materials & upcycle them to be something new!
But keep in mind that making everything by hand will take more time than simply buying stuff. So start planning & crafting now! If you find that the going gets tough, then you can succumb to purchasing gifts handmade by others– that’s just as good. Etsy is a great place to look for these. You can find anything you should want. Promise. & take the handmade pledge if you need some incentive!

[...] These are the reasons why we decided to dedicate ourselves to handmade gift giving last year. I encourage you to take the handmade pledge as well — we saved so much money by making everything ourselves! Forget about lines, shopping carts, swiping your card, and lugging bags out to the car in the freezing cold! Put your heart into your gifts this year! Photo by Jennifer Squires [...]
