I used to hold the mentality that stores like Goodwill & Salvation Army, being the fantastic places they are, are establishments made to bring affordable items to the less fortunate, & for this reason I tried my best not to buy from them. I can afford to spend a little more shopping at stores in the mall (although I try not to), & boutiques, etc., so I didn’t think I should be stealing the best deals from those who couldn’t afford anything more. But lately it seems that I just can’t help myself. A new Goodwill has opened in South Portland that is enormous by Goodwill standards, & it is packed with all sorts of great finds. On top of that, being an employee of Goodwill Industries (you’ll remember that I work in the group homes), I have a discount card for all of the stores. For the last week, myself & my friends have been somewhat addicted. I wanted to show off one of the little lovelies I managed to snag myself today. It’s a fantastic chaise that has a few kitty damages, but for now it will do & eventually I plan on reupholstering it with an equally gorgeous fabric. This is what it looks like now:
My friend also managed to find the most beautiful mirror I’ve set eyes on in my life (& I’m a big fan of framed things — mirrors, picture frames, etc). And she sent me a photo message of a sweet little pair of oxfords. Of course I was there two hours later purchasing them. This is my life.
