Most of you (U.S. citizens anyway) have been enjoying your Memorial Day weekends, and are probably not looking forward to Tuesday when you go back to work. Ryan + I, on the other hand, will be starting our weekend when he gets home from work after midnight tonight. Yay!

I am especially excited because this year I’ll actually get to be home for it! This is the start of the summer season, which means a lot when you live in the Lakes Region. Of course Memorial Day itself is a day set aside to honor those who died while they were in service, but I really enjoy the way the Lakes Region acknowledges it. Rather than spending the day at a grave site and mourning the loss of loved ones, the whole town comes together for a parade, and celebrates their sacrifices!

Then, with that, we are sent full tilt into the season of summer. Everyone is home. There are cookouts, boating adventures, and swimming to boot. The weather is finally warm (it’s about time!), and while the bugs are still pretty ferocious right now, the sweet perfume of the lilacs is taken in with every breath and that definitely makes up for it.

I hope you all are enjoying your weekend whether you have an extra day or not! I won’t be updating until Wednesday (because I’ll be having too much fun!). So I’ll have to wait to see you then!

xx. Julia
