our week in snapshots:

highlights

Right now I can feel the sun on my face even though it isn’t. It’s that slight sting that lingers after you’ve spent some time outside and it’s definitely a highlight from this week. I have managed to pass the whole summer without a sunburn {a good thing, yes}, but yesterday brought a bit of pink to my skin and I love that. I loved this week.

On Sunday my parents, Ryan, and I walked down to the place where we’ll most likely have our wedding. I couldn’t think of anywhere more meaningful to make such a special commitment than on the shores of the lake where I grew up so we’re in the process of reserving this perfect location. Our vision for the big day is solidifying and coming together already! It’s wild how quickly these things happen once you’ve decided it’s what you want.

My bff and I made a trip back to Portland to do some major thrifting and it was such a wonderful time! We covered two States and hundreds of topics, then finished the day with a trip to her new house! She’ll be moving a little bit closer to us by October and I’m already in love with her house! I think I’ll be making as many visits to her place as she’ll let me make, it’s that lovely.

Being in Portland was a little sad. Although we were only there for a couple of hours, I saw so many familiar faces and realized that although New Hampshire is my home, Portland sort of is, too. When we drove through my old neighborhood, past my old job, I was so tempted to turn left into our old driveway, but then remembered that we didn’t live there anymore. I loved that neighborhood and do miss it a little. That was a great time in our life, the Portland years, I’m so happy we did everything that we did while we were there.

And yesterday I had a meeting at a coffee shop with Ryan’s boss! It looks like I’ll be doing some work with them that I couldn’t be any more excited about! I love local business, and this one is even more special than most. To be a part of it would be an honor and I’ll be doing what I really love – blogging! So, so happy to get started!

I think this was the best week of the whole summer.

Our week in snapshots:

highlights

This week did not feel real! The weather has been unbelievable. Sure, New England is known for its weather mood swings, but 85 degrees in March? That’s unheard of. Ryan + I stayed with his parents on Tuesday night and we just couldn’t bring ourselves to sit inside. I swear the whole visit took place on their back porch — it was ideal. We opened the windows, put on our bare feet, + yesterday I had my very first iced coffee of the year.

On Monday night I happened to be browsing around a favourite thrift store when I bumped into a couple-friend of ours. Kate + Justin were looking for furniture for their new apartment and I happened to spot the most amazing mid-century danish hutch. It had me drooling the moment I set eyes on it, and the sellers mis-priced it so it was an absolute steal! I convinced our friends to take it home with them {peer pressure! peer pressure!} and I was only a little jealous as they checked out on their way home.

I was shopping downtown {at another thrift store, ha!} and the owner asked about my bow ties! She had seen me posting about them on facebook and such, and she asked if I’d be interested in selling them in her shop! I’m definitely into that idea, so I’ve been working on them with not just my Etsy shop and the Merchant Company in mind — it’s been a good week.

Last Saturday I mentioned that I’ll be re-doing my Etsy shop! It’s half-price right now, and plans are coming together for the grand re-opening on May 1st. I worked on my shipping packaging this week. The winners of my birthday giveaway will be the guinea pigs as far as that goes. Let me know what you think when your packages arrive next week, winners!

Enjoy your weekend!

Snapshots from our week:

I always love sleeping in front of the fire. If we accomplished nothing else in our trip back home, Ryan + I both decided it was worth the four hours in the car just to fall asleep to that crackling sound. But it was also lovely to see much of my family including my darling niece + nephew, and to celebrate my birthday with them. We had a yummy pumpkin spice cake that my Mom invented and Birch Bark ice cream from the Sandwich Creamery — a definite favourite.

My Great Uncle found my Grandparents’ wedding invitation recently and sent it to my Mom! That’s it in the second to last photo. They were married in 1947. I think I inherited her missing upper lip, ha! I love my parents’ house because it is sort of a museum of my family history. There are so many bits and pieces not only from my childhood, but also from my parents’, their parents’, and everything in between. I guess being a pack-rat must be genetic.

TGIF!

Snapshots from our week:

highlights

It’s March 2nd, and it feels more like winter now than it has since October. Strange, strange weather we’ve had this year. Remember how it was snowing on Halloween? I suppose it is true that March comes in like a lion and { hopefully } goes out like a lamb. It’s my tumultuous birth month — we shall have to wait and see!

My parents came to visit this week and brought with them Samoas — my very favourite Girl Scout cookie. I can’t get enough of these little darlings…the first box is already gone. We didn’t do much while they were here, just a whole lot of sitting around and chatting. But we did get to talking a lot about my home and I’m really, really missing it. Ryan + I have since decided to plan a visit for our next coming weekend.

On another note, don’t you love these beautiful tulips? It’s wonderful to pretend for just a moment that it’s time for flowers outside. They’re a breath of fresh air in here and I’m increasingly excited for the coming months. I’ve decided that this summer I will make it a goal of mine to have a fresh bouquet of flowers in our home every single week. Hopefully many of those I’ll be able to grow myself!

Happy Friday!

xx.
