Happy giveaway day!

Two of my lovely sponsors have graciously decided to participate in this month’s giveaway! They’re both wonderful Mainers who understand and appreciate the importance of supporting local and thinking green – two major ideals in my life, too. They couldn’t be more wonderful if they tried! One lucky winner will receive the following from their respective Etsy shops:

WorthyGoods is my go-to place for any new fabric I purchase. Dory carries the dreamiest, comfiest, most unique assortment of organic fabrics that I’ve ever seen and always tucks a little something extra into her orders. She recently sent me a tiny vintage bobbin like these and it makes such a lovely display item in my studio! I’ve got some ric-rac that I scored at a yard sale and I plan to use my bobbin to keep it in line instead of just sticking it in a drawer. These beautiful bobbins could help you organize your yarn ends, ribbon, or twine so you can keep them out and looking nice without getting them all tangled up. Plus, these babies are from old textile mills that were powered mainly by water or steam, so they’re a little piece of American history!

MaineBelle vintage is a fun and friendly vintage shop with colorful items mainly from the ’60s through ’80s and Michelle’s offering the winner their choice of any one item from her shop! Personally, if I were the winner I’d go for the plaid spring rain jacket {good for fall, too!}, but that Marilyn Monroe dress is pretty tempting. And the pastel blouse is made up of my blog colors, perfect or what?

To enter the contest: Leave a comment below telling me your favourite summertime activity, then make sure you subscribe so you’ll know if you won when I announce the winner later this week!

* here’s a little something for everyone: Enter coupon code JEEZEJULIA15 at checkout and save 15% on any purchase at WorthyGoods Textile. This coupon is valid now through 6 PM Sunday, July 29th, and even if you don’t sew there are plenty of ways you can use Dory’s gorgeous fabrics. I use them for backgrounds all the time when I’m taking photos {my Photo Booth Friday heading is one of her fabrics!}, but you could also do something like this or this.

Good luck, everyone!

xx.

P.s. This contest is now closed! Stay tuned to find out who won!

If I could enter my own contest, I would.

This is my first big giveaway and I couldn’t be more excited about the prize! Shabby Apple has the most amazing vintage inspired pieces with which I would love to fill my closet. They also donate a portion of their sales to assist women in need worldwide so it’s a great company to support! I’ve picked out some of my favourites here, but please visit the site to see what else they have! From dresses, to swimwear, to accessories + home decor, there is so much to choose from!I love how nearly everything for sale on Shabby Apple is work appropriate! With longer hem lines and higher necklines they’ll work for so many occasions without sacrificing style. These are basically my dream clothes! And check out this peter pan collar/beehive combination. Perfect.

To enter, you’ll need to “like” Shabby Apple on facebook, and leave a comment here on this blog post saying what your favourite item is on their website. Then make sure you’re subscribed to my blog so you’ll know if you won! I’ll be accepting entries until Saturday night at 10 pm, and announcing the winner at some point next week. You must have a U.S. shipping address to win, but if you live out of the country and there’s someone here who wouldn’t mind receiving your package, feel free to enter!

Don’t be discouraged if you aren’t lucky, though, because Shabby Apple is so generous that they didn’t want to leave anyone out! Even if you don’t win, you can enter “jeezejulia10off” as a coupon code at the checkout to receive 10% off of your purchases for a month! Quick – the clock is ticking!

Good luck!

xx.

UPDATE: I’m no longer accepting entries for this giveaway. Any comments left on this entry after 10 pm Saturday, June 2nd will not be counted. Sorry! Find out who won by clicking here!

Our week in snapshots:

| highlights |

We can finally smell the first sweet breezes of summer! Although today is a bit dreary, the last week or so has for the most part been gorgeous. Ryan + I have started running again, and are really excited to explore some of the woodland trails that snake between a quiet stream and some rusty old railroad tracks just outside of town. I love running under bright green leaves, and it’s even better when there’s clean, clear water running next to us.

Our radishes have sprouted up so quickly! And our peas are not far behind. It feels like we’ll be eating from our garden sooner than we had thought. All of this rain sure has been great for one thing – waking the Earth up from its long winter slumber. With our ingredients sorting themselves out as I type, Ryan + I are getting more excited for the debut of our cooking blog in June! It’ll be a seasonal-ish vegetarian recipe blog using as much of our own garden as is possible. We’ve done locavore summers twice {2010, 2011} and will still be eating mostly within New England, but our focus is going to be sharing some of our favourite foods with you! I’ll keep you updated as things progress.

Oh, yes! I’ve also made my first shop sales! The very first came in the week I reopened, but since then I’ve had three more – two of which were orders including multiple listings! I’ve got high hopes for this shop of mine. I’m also really excited this week because I’ll be hosting a giveaway for Shabby Apple right here on the blog! Incredible, no? You may want to head to their website now to find your favourite things, then make sure you’re here on Tuesday to officially enter the contest! I’d hate for you to miss out on this – they have such cute stuff {and, they donate a portion of their profit to help women worldwide}!

Good day, my dears!

I love birthdays!

Today I’m spending lots of time with family and friends in celebration of my special day, but I had to share a little something in this space with you, too. Thank you for reading my posts, commenting, liking, and spending time with me via the internet. I’m so happy to share my little celebrations with all of you, and on days like this I’m especially appreciative.

I picked a lovely little crocus from our mini-garden, and would love to ship it your way to say thanks, but since flowers won’t last well in the mail, I’ll send you something different instead. To share the birthday joy, 5 commenters will receive a special package from me!

All you have to do is share with me a wish that you would make if you were the one blowing out the candles today! Don’t forget to include your email address so I can contact you for mailing details!I’ve decided upon a birthday braid, what do you think? Since my hair is growing out, but needs a trim, braids are a simple + safe way for me to style my hair. I’m just in love! One day I’ll perfect the fishtail, but until then I’m sticking with this:

Now I’m off to eat some cake or something! I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying the spring-like weather we’ve been having this week. I know that I will be!

Happy Pi Day!

xx.
