Where yesterday our plate was empty…

…today it overflows. We made a trip to our garden this afternoon and came home with loads of fresh veggies. I had helped my parents in the garden a little growing up, but this year we’ve done it almost entirely on our own, and it’s such an amazing feeling to bite into something we planted as a seed.On top of the radishes, kale, and two varieties of lettuce that we brought home, we also feasted on wild raspberries that line one side of our garden at the edge of the woods, and some sugar snap peas that were just ready to be picked. Fresh local, organic produce – it doesn’t get better than this.

I’ve got to say that the summertime {if I haven’t said this a hundred times before} is my most favourite time of the year. Sunshine, fresh air, crisp veggies, and sandy feet.

What’s in your garden?

xx.

We’re leaving to spend the night at Ryan’s parents’ tonight, but first I wanted to pass along a link!

MaineLocavore.org is a great website that shows what’s in season in my region, and the available places to get each thing (including restaraunts — you don’t even have to cook this stuff)! They also have fibers like wool and alpaca for crafty people :)

Looks like we’re not the only Maine Locavores

(though it certainly does feel like it sometimes…)
